Wine tourism

The excellence and food and wine traditions have always distinguished Umbria, a land of aromas and flavors that are lost in history.

Among these excellences, wine (together with oil) is certainly one of the best expressions of our fertile land, which we like to share with those who come to visit us.

The vines of Umbria

These are some of the most important native white and red grape varieties:

Grechetto

Autochthonous vine which, although its name recalls the grapes from the Greco variety, is widespread throughout the region and is often produced in purity. In the Todi area, its adaptation over the centuries has contributed to the birth of a native variety named Grechetto di Todi.

Ciliegiolo

Generally destined to produce young and fragrant wines, in the Terni area it is particularly widespread and appreciated under the name of Ciliegiolo di Narni.

Drupeggio

Also present above all in the Orvieto area.

Trebbiano

Also in Umbria it plays a leading role and in some cases it is set giving life to Trebbiano Perugino and Trebbiano Spoletino.

Procanico

It is the name given to Trebbiano in the Orvieto area.

Malvasia

Present in almost the entire region, in the Amerino area it is vinified in purity.

Sagrantino

Native grape variety grown in Montefalco where one of the most popular Italian red wines of the moment is produced.

Sangiovese

The king of Italian vines, even in Umbria is the basis of almost all denominations and is sometimes produced in purity.

Gamay del Trasimeno

A distant relative of the international variety born in France, the "Gamay del lago" has very different characteristics from its namesake from beyond the Alps.

Verdello

Rather productive variety and present in the Orvieto area.
